Biography:
Mark Riopel concentrates his practice on family law, collaborative law and divorce, as well as personal injury. He is a certified family financial mediator, which requires extensive training and adherence to high standards. He has received a BV Martindale-Hubbell peer review rating.
A significant portion of Mr. Riopel’s practice is divorce mediation, either as the mediator or as the representative of a party utilizing the mediation process.
He graduated with honors in 1989 from Colgate University, where he earned a B.A. He earned his J.D. in 1994 from Wake Forest University.
Mr. Riopel has participated as a speaker in several continuing legal education programs regarding child custody, equitable distribution and collaborative family law. Additionally, he participated in a collaborative law training program in 2007.
Mr. Riopel is a member of the Mecklenburg County Bar Association; North Carolina Bar Association, where he is a member of the Family Law Council; North Carolina State Bar; Mecklenburg Collaborative Family Law Practice Group; and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of the Family Law Council, of which he has acted as Chair.
