Biography:
Nelson M. Casstevens, Jr., an AV-rated lawyer, has distinguished himself as a Charlotte family law lawyer for more than 40 years. He has handled hundreds of matters involving domestic relations, family law, divorce and civil litigation, and has amassed significant jury trial experience.
Mr. Casstevens is listed in Best Lawyers of America, Business North Carolina Legal Elite, Super Lawyers of North Carolina and the Bar Registry of Prominent Lawyers.
Mr. Casstevens is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and has served as a North Carolina State Bar Councilor for seven years. He is a member of the North Carolina Bar and admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States District Court for Western and Middle Districts of North Carolina and all North Carolina State Courts.
Mr. Casstevens has served as President of the Wake Forest Law Alumni Association. He is a member of the Wake Forest Law School Board of Visitors and has served as its Chairman.
On numerous occasions, Mr. Casstevens has taught Continuing Legal Education courses at the request of the North Carolina Bar Association, the Mecklenburg County Bar and the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers.
Mr. Casstevens was a JAG Officer for the United States Air Force.
Mr. Casstevens earned an undergraduate degree (BA, 1963) from Catawba College and a law degree (JD, 1965) from Wake Forest University Law School, where he was a member of the Scholastic Honors List.
